ASG Ocala Gets TWO Special Interest Groups!
A Special Interest (SI) Group is like a neighborhood group, but based on interest rather than geography. And The Ocala Chapter now has TWO of these groups!
MACHINE EMBROIDERY GROUP
STITCHIT
A new machine embroidery group led by Marge Hollnagel has formed and will be meeting on the first Friday of each month starting with June 2010. Meetings will be held at the Sheriffs station on S.R. 200 from 9am-3pm. Twelve ASG members were in attendance to share ideas and make plans. Two from Gainesville, one from Nature Coast and the rest from Belleview and Ocala. There will be a planned technique and project for each meeting which will be led by a member. It will be a hands on work session. For those who are novices with your machine, this is your chance to really learn what you can do. There are quite a few beginners in the group so don't be shy. With Marge as Leader, the following have also volunteered: Murilla Wester, Sunshine; Darlene Sperber, Treasurer; and Denise Shortway, Publicity. An optional $1 per month to cover expenses will be collected and each meeting will have a door prize. No charity work will be done in this group which is stricly for learning.

Cutting Edge
Genie Boothby is the informal leader of this group.
“We meet every two weeks. The idea was to choose a pattern from among Louise Cutting’s Cutting Line Designs line, everyone make it, and for the group members to help each other tweak the fit. We decided to make a blouse first.
“We chose the pattern we felt would fit most of us. This kinda of worked, although the pattern did not look as good on some of our group members as it did on the envelope! We decided that it probably had been drafted for a larger woman than most of us. But several of us agreed to make a pattern that we selected for ourselves. I think we might do another blouse before moving on to pants.”
The group meets in Gainesville, but anyone who would like to participate is welcome.
