Thank you
First and foremost, to all of you who sent get well wishes and “you’re not alone” sentiments during Rick’s recent hospitalization – my deep and sincere thanks. It was heartwarming and comforting to have your prayers and healing thoughts wrapped around us during that difficult time.
After eight days and $75 thousand dollars in hospital bills, we still do not know what caused him to become so ill. When he went in that Friday, his body was shutting down. It was quite scary. He’s been home now for a bit over two weeks, and while far from his usual perky self, he’s a whole lot better than he was, and clearly on the mend.
I am a very firm believer in the power of prayer, the power of the positive postulate. Thank you for the part you played in bringing him back from the brink. Thank you for letting me know that I was never alone.
Conference is coming!
By the time the next issue of the newsletter comes out, ASG Annual Conference will have come and gone. Will you be a part of it? Oh, I sure hope so.
Have you seen the stellar sewing world names who will be teaching at conference? And it’s in Atlanta – SO CLOSE! The ASG Florida bus still has seats, at a cost of only $72 round trip – that surely helps with the cost.
For an ASG member, for those of us with a passion for anything fiber, ASG Annual Conference is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Do NOT let this one pass you by.
Oh, and did I mention the vendor mall . . .
What’s a FussyCut 3in1™
And what does it have to do with
ASG Ocala Chapter?
Your fearless leader and her fearless husband have cooked up a tool that is getting a pretty spectacular response from quilters and sewers across the board. While we’ve named it the FussyCut 3in1™, this patented wonder is actually five in one. We didn’t like the sound of that, so it’s called three in one with two bonuses.
It started out as a way to get a perfect insider corner cut, any size of square or rectangle, using a rotary cutter, something that was not previously possible. With its patented corner configuration, when you need a fussy cut, you can take your cut right out of the middle.
Next came the center-finding ruler. It has the 0 mark in the middle, with inch markings to the right and left. You can position an item in the center, or, you can find the center of an existing item. Very handy for precision placement.
Then there is the 1 ½" by 1" area marked with a 1/8" grid. To that we added precisely placed needle holes to determine or verify seam allowances at 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4" intervals.
Finally, since so many measurements are given in centimeters and millimeters, it offers a mini-metric ruler, and a 7 ½" regular ruler.
But what does this have to do with the Ocala Chapter?, you say.
One of the features of the FussyCut 3in1 is that it can be customized – as in putting the ASG logo, and even the Ocala Chapter name in the designated area. And with that, it becomes a fund-raising tool. Ocala Chapter already has benefitted from sales of FussyCut, and more continues to flow into our treasury with every ASG Ocala Chapter FussyCut sold..
But wait! There’s more!
We have secured permission from ASG headquarters to have a fund-raising table at the ASG Annual Conference in Atlanta this summer! THAT IS A REALLY BIG DEAL, folks! Rick has agreed to manufacture FussyCut tools in our Gainesville shop with the ASG logo engraved, and a significant part of the proceeds from these sales will flow to the Ocala Chapter.
I’m going to call on chapter members who attend conference to help out for a brief period at our fund-raising table. I’ll train you in how to demonstrate the FussyCut tool, and you can help raise money for chapter programs and events by selling or taking orders.
I plan also to propose to the CAB at our next meeting that anyone who helps in this way can earn a conference scholarship, commensurate with time invested and income raised. The more, the merrier! You can earn money to defray the cost of attending conference by helping at the chapter fund-raising table. A total win-win!
There are also ASG chapter logo appliques, designed for chapters nationwide, that we can use to raise money for our chapter at conference, but I’ll tell you about that later . . .
See you at conference!
