Tropical Birds Quilt

And the winner of the Tropical Birds Quilt is ……… MARGE WORKMAN from the Sew Exciting NG of the Ocala ASG chapter. Congratulations Marge!!

The idea of a quilt to raffle as a means to build the education fund for the Ocala ASG chapter was born in 2009 and came to fruition in 2011. This stunning quilt of tropical birds was machine stitched by Jackie Metz and Bev Hilton, pieced by Murilla Wester and Ginny Babcock, and quilted by Joan Gamble of Sew Artfully Quilted from Old Town, FL. Tickets were sold by the members of the Ocala ASG chapter and realized a net total of $503.55 which is earmarked for the education fund of the chapter.

Excitement mounted as President Marge Hollnagel drew the winning ticket at the November 7, 2011 CAB meeting of the Ocala ASG chapter. A drum roll please……. the ticket was drawn and the first name was read ….. Marge…… oh could it possibly be me?, thought Marge. How embarrassing to draw my own ticket! Then reading on, the last name was Workman. Oh joy! It couldn’t have been a better person to win.

Later that same day, the quilt was delivered to Marge Workman by Candy LeGro and Marge Hollnagel. And as you can see from the pictures, Marge was extremely happy and excited. She says she has never won anything of this magnitude before. She says it will be proudly hung in her house and when we left her house, she was busy figuring out a wall to hang it on.
